Why grocery brands should have an app

Win the weekly order

Your regular customers order every week or two. Becoming their habit is worth far more than any single basket. An app gives you a place on their home screen, a faster way to reorder and a direct line to their lock screen.

Make reordering the easiest part of their week

The customers who order from you a few times in a row are the ones who stay. Your app keeps them signed in, with their account and past orders a tap away, so the weekly order takes minutes, and a push before your order cutoff brings them back on schedule.

Sell fresh stock while it's at its best

Seasonal produce, the day's catch and short-dated stock can't wait for next week's newsletter. A push the morning it arrives brings shoppers in while it's fresh, and helps you sell perishables before they go to waste.

Turn weekly specials into bigger baskets

Put this week's deals, bundles and app-only offers on the lock screen, and give shoppers a reason to add a few more items before checkout. Loyalty members stay signed in, with their rewards ready when they pay.

Bring shoppers back without paying for ads

Your margins are thin, and retargeting ads that win back last week's customers eat into every order. Push reaches every shopper who installed your app, right on their lock screen, so the next order doesn't have to start with an ad.

Built on your website

Your online grocery store in your customer's pocket

Your website already handles delivery windows, pickup slots, substitutions, stock that changes by the hour and thousands of products to search. MobiLoud builds your app on top of it, so every piece works in the app from launch day.

Delivery windows and pickup

Delivery slots, order cutoffs and click-and-collect from tools like Zapiet, with the same availability customers see on your site.

Stock and substitutions

Live stock levels, stock by store and substitution preferences work in the app exactly as they do on your website.

Search and filters

Your site search, from tools like Searchanise or Klevu, with filters for dietary needs, brands and aisles.

Checkout and payments

Your checkout with saved addresses, delivery notes and the payment options your customers use, including Apple Pay.

Weekly deals and promotions

Weekly specials, bundles, promo codes and free-delivery thresholds, set up where you manage them today.

Loyalty and member prices

Points, rewards and member pricing from Smile.io, Yotpo or your own program, with members signed in between orders.

Recipes and meal ideas

Recipe pages with shoppable ingredient lists, meal plans and seasonal guides, in your own design.

Order tracking

Order updates and delivery tracking from tools like Route or AfterShip, the same way customers get them from your site.

Works with tools like:

Zapiet Route Klaviyo Searchanise Klevu Smile.io Yotpo AfterShip

The operating model

Change it on your site, and it's changed in the app

Your store changes every day: prices, stock, delivery slots and this week's specials. Each change goes live in your app immediately, with no duplicate work dragging you down.

Your team

Manages prices, stock and promotions as usual

  • Prices, stock and substitutions, updated in your store
  • Weekly specials, bundles and promo codes, set up as they are today
  • Delivery slots, cutoffs and pickup times, managed where they are now
  • App-only deals and member offers, created like any other promotion

Our team

Takes care of everything app-specific

  • The iOS and Android build, configuration and testing
  • Publishing to the App Store and Google Play under your accounts
  • Updates for every new OS version, SDK change and store policy
  • Push notification setup, plus advice on timing and targeting
  • A launch plan for installs: site banners, email, social, and QR codes on receipts, delivery bags and store signage
  • Strategy and performance reviews (on Enterprise)

MobiLoud vs the alternatives

Why online grocery stores choose MobiLoud

Custom native apps can take a year to build, with your delivery slots, substitutions and stock rules rebuilt from scratch. Template app builders can't handle most of that, and some take a cut of every order on your already thin margins. MobiLoud builds your app on the website that already does it all.

MobiLoud

  • Built on your live website
  • Delivery slots, substitutions and stock rules included
  • Prices and specials updated once, on your site
  • Monthly pricing, no revenue share
  • Live in 2 to 4 weeks

Template app builders

  • A second storefront, built in their editor
  • Delivery and pickup logic limited to what they support
  • Weekly specials set up again in their CMS
  • Some charge 1.75 to 2.5% of in-app sales
  • New features depend on their roadmap

Custom native

  • A full engineering team working from your platform's APIs
  • Delivery slots, substitutions and stock rules rebuilt one by one
  • Separate code, releases and testing to maintain
  • $250K to $1M+ a year, fully loaded
  • 6 to 12 months to launch

Getting live

From kickoff to your first app order in 2 to 4 weeks

Your team's part is small: a kickoff call, your brand assets and a few approvals. We handle the build, the testing and both app store reviews.

  1. Week 1

    Kickoff

We plan the app and its launch with you, from tab menus to the offers you want to promote first, and you give us access to your store and developer accounts.

  2. Weeks 1 to 2

    Build and integrate

We build the app on your live website and test delivery slots, pickup, substitutions and checkout from start to finish. You can try a working preview by week two.

  3. Weeks 1-2

    Customize and test

We fine-tune the design, connect push notifications and analytics (GA4 and Firebase), and test on iOS and Android before your final approval.

  4. Weeks 2 to 4

    Launch

We submit both apps under your developer accounts and manage the reviews, which typically take one to two weeks. Then your launch plan starts, from site banners and email to QR codes in store.

For the people who sign it off

We can deliver everything your legal, security and finance teams will ask for:

  • Data Processing Agreement and GDPR documentation
  • An SLA with 24/7 support and an uptime commitment (on Enterprise)
  • Custom contracts, redlines and payment terms
  • Payment by invoice or bank transfer
  • Customer data stays in your store's own systems

What grocery brands want to know

Book a call
How do grocery brands use push notifications?

Grocery brands send push notifications for weekly specials, fresh and seasonal arrivals, reminders before an order cutoff, back-in-stock items, loyalty offers and abandoned carts. Every notification can carry a photo and link to a product, a category or this week's specials page. Push comes from your own OneSignal account, or from Klaviyo on the Enterprise plan, and we set it up with you during onboarding.

Do delivery slots, pickup and substitutions work in the app?

Yes. The app is built on your live website, so delivery windows, order cutoffs, click-and-collect, stock by store and substitution preferences work exactly as they do there, whether they come from a tool like Zapiet or your own setup. Customers see the same availability in the app as on your site.

Can customers reorder their usual basket quickly?

Yes. Customers stay signed in, so their account, saved addresses and order history are always a tap away. If your site has a reorder button, a buy-again list or shopping lists, those work in the app too.

Do EBT and SNAP payments work in the app?

If your checkout accepts EBT and SNAP today, it works in the app the same way, because the app uses your existing checkout. So do Apple Pay and any gift cards or store credit you offer.

Can one app cover several store locations?

Yes. If shoppers choose a store or delivery area on your site, they do the same in the app and see that location's stock, prices and delivery slots. Chains that want a separate app for each banner or region can have one, and multi-region setups are part of the Enterprise plan.

Is this a real native app?

Yes. Shoppers download it from the App Store and Google Play, where it's published under your own developer accounts. We build it on your live website and add what makes it an app: a tab bar and navigation, push notifications, staying signed in, social login and deep links. MobiLoud has published more than 2,000 apps since 2013.

Do links to our site open in the app?

Yes, for anyone with the app installed. We set up universal links on iOS and app links on Android, so a link in your weekly email or a text message opens the right product or page in the app. Customers without the app see your mobile site as usual. Your web team adds two small setup files, which we provide.

Which ecommerce platforms does MobiLoud work with?

Shopify and Shopify Plus, Magento and Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Shopware, PrestaShop and custom platforms. Safe Select is on Shopify.

How long does it take to launch?

Most stores are live 2 to 4 weeks after kickoff: one to two weeks to set up, build, test and approve the app, then one to two weeks of app store review. If a busy season is coming, we'll plan the launch date around it.

How do we get customers to download the app?

Your regular customers are the easiest to reach. We help you plan the launch: a banner on your mobile site, an email to your list, social posts, and QR codes on receipts, delivery bags and store signage. An app-only offer, like free delivery on the first app order, gives people a reason to install.

What does a MobiLoud app cost?

The Business plan is $1,499 a month, or $1,274 a month billed annually, plus a one-time fee to build and submit the app, with up to 10,000 monthly active users included. Enterprise is custom-priced. Neither plan takes a share of your sales, which matters on your margins: what you pay doesn't grow with the orders the app brings in.

Who owns the app and the App Store listing?

Your business does. We publish both apps under your own Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts, which means the store listings, reviews, install base, analytics and shopper data all belong to you. MobiLoud keeps the intellectual property in the platform that builds the app, and if you ever move on, the listings and your customers go with you.

Put your store on your customers' phones

After a short call, we'll build a free, interactive preview of your app from your website. Browse your aisles, pick a delivery slot and fill a basket, with no commitment.
